Ernest
Peterson. Franklin Field Tennis Center,
Founder & Director/ Head Teaching Professional founded
the Peterson School of Tennis, one of the top USTA National
Training Programs in the nation. Coach Peterson started his
professional tennis teaching career in Boston in 1968, where
he worked with Boston Parks and recreation, and later the Franklin
Field Tennis Center, one of the first grass roots tennis programs
for minority youth in the nation. In 1976, Coach Peterson founded
the Peterson School of Tennis. Known for his fundamental
stroke production and motivation skills, Coach Peterson has
developed and guided many student athletes to Division I and
II colleges, and to the pro tour, throughout the United States.
Coach Peterson has conducted tennis clinics and workshops throughout
the United States. In 2003, Coach Peterson was selected
Development Coach of the Year, by the US Olympic Committee.

Jewel Peterson, Program Director/WTA Tour-A direct product
of the Peterson School of Tennis is program director and in
charge of day to day operations of the Peterson School of Tennis.
After an extensive junior tennis career, including the USTA
Player Development Program, USTA National Traveling Team, as
well as two national junior titles, Jewel attended the University
of Southern California as a recipient of a full athletic scholarship.
There, she was a four time All-American as a Lady Trojan and
#1 singles player all four years. Jewel graduated with a BA
degree in Communication. Following graduation, Jewel
competed on the WTA tour and also played team tennis professionally
with the Newport Breakers. She oversees the High Performance
Training portion of the tennis program. |

Brenton James, High performance coach/USPTA,and alumnus
of Peterson School of Tennis, Brenton James is a high performance
coach in the summer program. Coach B J competed in junior USTA
events and is a graduate of Furman University, where he competed
in collegiate tennis. His major, Health Science and Physiology
enhance his teaching skills. |

Coach Leander Murphy, Coach Murphy,World Class Sports
Performance Coach and graduate of University of Delaware works
with our students on linear and lateral speed, power, agility,
reaction, quickness, and balance. |

Caryl Moreland, Coordinator for tutorial services. Mrs.
Moreland, a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, is certified
6-12 in math and works with the afterschool program. |
